Japan-Cambodia Association to Open Office in Cambodia

TOKYO: President of the Japan-Cambodia Association (JCA), Takahashi Fumiaki, said that the JCA will soon open its office in Cambodia, which will play a role in attracting Japanese investors.

Takahashi Fumiaki met with former Prime Minister Hun Sen during his visit to Japan this week, where he praised the former PM’s role in establishing peace and development in Cambodia along with his work in expanding bilateral relations between Cambodia and Japan over the past three decades.

He added that the JCA will soon open its office in Cambodia, which will help promote Cambodia’s investment potential in to Japanese companies, especially the estimated four million small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Japan.

"If we can attract only 0.1%, then about 4,000 Japanese SMEs will be able to invest in Cambodia," he said.

The meeting was also attended by representatives of companies that are already in production in Cambodia. Some expressed their willingness to open a car repair training school in the Kingdom, along with an entrepreneurship training school for women.

The former PM said he highly appreciated the efforts of the JCA and welcomed the opening of the association's office in Cambodia.

He hopes that Japanese SMEs will play an important role in creating job opportunities for Cambodians as well as transfer knowledge through investment in Cambodia.
